Yeah, Yeah, Yeah...

Kerry hit a home run, he cleared the bases...
George Bush commited an error; he struke out...

Who cares? Kerry's an admitted war criminal that met with the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong in Paris. He was Dukakis' Lt. Governer; Ted Kennedy's butt buddy. He voted against Gulf War One; voted for ousting Saddam Hussein without funding the operation to accomplish it. What else do you need to know?

Kerry ain't gonna win. Count on it. President Bush wins with more than 300 electoral votes.

The debate? YAWN...

Pride of the Angels...

I'm a sucker for success stories from people who overcome adversity to excell in their chosen fields and give back to their community. Curtis Pride is such a guy; deaf from infancy he now plays ball for my guys, the Anaheim Angels. Here's hoping we get a chance to see him play in the World Series this year.

You can visit his charity here.

The Night the Lights Went Out in Florida...

The Kerry campaign's already whining and the debate hasn't even started.

Jeez, Senator, Do you really need more time to get your positions on Iraq straight?

John Kerry Gets Debating Points from Terrorists?...

Stark raving murderers kill 32 kids in Baghdad car bombings. Is this a coincidence timed for the debate tonight? Or just more killing for the sake of it?

I can hear John Kerry in tonight's debate, "By being in Iraq, innocent children are being killed by car bombs. This would never have happened if the president told the truth to the American people." Maybe, but then again they could've been killed using Saddam's chemical weapons.

Look, things are really rough over there right now, but we are also doing good work and transforming a mishapen society into a relatively normal one (for the Middle East, anyway). A few examples here and here.

Huh?...

John Kerry with Diane Sawyer today -

DIANE SAWYER: Was the war in Iraq worth it?

JOHN KERRY: We should not have gone to war knowing the information that we know today.

DS: So it was not worth it.

JK: We should not — it depends on the outcome ultimately — and that depends on the leadership. And we need better leadership to get the job done successfully, but I would not have gone to war knowing that there was no imminent threat — there were no weapons of mass destruction — there was no connection of Al Qaeda — to Saddam Hussein! The president misled the American people — plain and simple. Bottom line.

DS: So if it turns out okay, it was worth it?

JK: No.

DS: But right now it wasn't [ … ? … ]--

JK: It was a mistake to do what he did, but we have to succeed now that we've done what he's — I mean look — we have to succeed. But was it worth — as you asked the question — $200 billion and taking the focus off of Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda? That's the question. The test of the presidency was whether or not you should have gone to war to get rid of him. I think, had the inspectors continued, had we done other things — there were plenty of ways to keep the pressure on Saddam Hussein.

DS: But no way to get rid of him.

JK: Oh, sure there were. Oh, yes there were. Absolutely.

DS: So you're saying that today, even if Saddam Hussein were in power today it would be a better thing — you would prefer that . . .

JK: No, I would not prefer that. And Diane — don't twist here.

John Kerry - The love child of Walter Mondale and Micheal Dukakis.

"Mrs. Murphy, You've Got a Lovely Daughter"...

Via Power Line comes a devastating ad in the Washington state senate race. Remember George Nethercutt took down Tom Foley in 1994, the incumbent Speaker of the House; he's gonna do it again. Mark my words, the Republicans gain 3-5 seats this year.

Bigotry's OK When You're a Lefty...

Our perennially out to lunch free newspaper, the Pasadena Weekly, has an editorial by Keven Uhrich stipulating that Pasadena shouldn't have a NFL team until the Redskins change their name. Like that's gonna happen (the name change and having a team in town).

He decries the racism in the name, but uses this quote "...No, it is the name "Redskins" that is of concern. And it is because of that blatantly racist moniker left over from when we were only two feet out of the cave we repeat our ongoing call for team owner Daniel M. Snyder to change that name to anything - the Bums, the Gibblets, the Rednecks - other than what it is."

The "Bums, Gibblets, and Rednecks". Let me see, he's using derogatory terms for the homeless, the British, and, of course, a southerner of low breeding. Hmm, no double-standard here, Mr. Uhrich? Look, I have no problem with his use of these words, but you cannot be serious in your argument, if you are willing to defame any group of people.

But we all know what Mr. Uhrich is getting at; you can find it later in his piece "...the tragic results of America's militaristic occupation of North America and its bloody westward expansion." Boy, we're just a buncha monsters with blood on our hands. Out damned spot! And Cherokee! And Navajo!

Our westward expansion was inevitable and, yes, tragic. When an advanced technological society collides with a primative one, the latter will collapse; it's Darwin's survival of the fittest. It's not good or evil, it just is.

This is Way Too Funny...

Floppertone

A guy named Bootyist-Monk over at Free Republic did it.

ORANGE ALERT! ORANGE ALERT!

You're Next, Abdullah...

Some election advice from the King of Jordan. Hey, Abdullah, if you allowed free and fair elections in Jordan, the majority of your population that is Palestinian may decide that they don't want you around anymore and have their own state. You know, the state that your grandfather was afraid of and used the British mandate to wrest from historical Palestine.

"Part Man, Part Monkey"...

Bruce Springsteen decides he's a member of the elite in this interview with Rolling Stone mag. I wonder if he would be as enthused with his get out the vote project if he saw the new poll from the Washington Post/ABC via Hugh Hewitt -

53% of 18-30 yr olds will be pulling the Republican lever this year. This new generation of voters are no dummies. They know that we are in a war for our survival and all the freedoms they enjoy won't mean squat if the Islamo-fascists have a say.

Then there's this quote from the "Boss" -

"The press has let the country down. It's taken a very amoral stand, in that essential issues are often portrayed as simply one side says this and the other side says that. I think that Fox News and the Republican right have intimidated the press into an incredible self-consciousness about appearing objective and backed them into a corner of sorts where they have ceded some of their responsibility and righteous power.

The Washington Post and New York Times apologies about their initial reporting about Iraq not being critical enough were very revealing. I am a dedicated Times reader, and I've found enormous sustenance from Paul Krugman and Maureen Dowd on the op-ed page. There has been great reporting, but there has also been some self-consciousness in some of the reporting about the policy differences in this election.

This is going to be an issue after the election. I don't know if it began with the Iraq War, but shortly thereafter there was an enormous amount of Fox impersonators among what you previously thought were relatively sane media outlets across the cable channels. It was very disheartening. The job of the press is to tell the truth without fear or favor. We have to get back to that standard."

I guess he doesn't watch CBS news. He is "Part Man, Part Monkey".
