I was gonna make this an elaborate post with 380 tons of links, but it's been all Halloween all the time in the Baratta household (for kiddies and adults, alike). So, in the interests of time and to leave room for a nap. Here we go:
Some random thoughts (in no order of significance) on why this'll be a blow-out election for the Republicans -
The last three Democratic presidents were from the south. A New England liberal will never be elected president.
A candidate who admits he's a war criminal, won't be president.
An economy that's in good shape will help the incumbant.
You cannot win an election based solely on hate. The right tried this in 1996, by nominating a war hero to run against a divisive president. It didn't work.
We're at war with a bunch of wackos and we're not a suicidal people. We're gonna see it through.
We're an ornery people and do not like lawyers invalidating our vote before we even pull the lever.
We don't take !@#$ from people trying to intimidate us.
We don't like foreigners telling us what to do. Hell, we left Europe to get away from these people.
Kerry is not a sports fan. And doesn't know how to eat like a regular guy.
George Bush is the real "Catholic" president in this election. Moral issues, after the war on terror, is motivating a lot of votors.
11 states have referendums on gay marriage on the ballot on Tuesday. They will pass by 60-70%; conservative voters are motivated on this issue and will go overwhemlingly for the president. That's over 200 EV's right there.
People are tired of being manipulated by the media.
Our staunch ally in the war on terror, John Howard, won big in Aussie elections in October. Over lefty cries of horror.
We're Americans, dammit, and don't want to be like everyone else. We are the children of Titans and will act as such. Providence is on our side. We will not retreat from dificulty into the arms of a war criminal, a liberal senator who was Dukakis' right hand man, Teddy Kennedy's moral equal. A prowling gold-digger. A shameless pandeder to the anti-American left and the global Luddites of the world.
OK, now that I got that off my chest, here we go - George Bush wins 35-40 states for 305-349 electoral votes. 52%-R, 45%-D, 3%-other (Kerry may get less if the left really sours on him in the last few days and gives Nader 3-5%).
Republicans pick up 3-5 seats in the Senate and 10-12 seats in the House.
Am I optimistic? Pretty much. If I'm wrong, I'll buy all 12 of my readers a beer. If I'm right; I'll buy all 12 of my readers a lotta beer.

I get a kick out of reading the posts at the lefty Democratic Underground forum, but I'm not chuckling this time. Check out some of the posts about the new bin Laden video ("you can dance to it; I give it a 58"). These people are scared; not about him, but what will happen to us if we re-elect the president.
Some samples -
The tape wasn't meant to say bad things about Bush it is a warning to the American people. Stop listening to the spin and pay attention to this because it is something we have talked about here at DU.
The warning is that if the American people RE-ELECT George W Bush then AMERICANS will be responsible and not the policy. It is a warning that if Bush wins the election they will hold us fully responsible and come after all of us. The attack would only happen if we re-elect Bush. We have wondered what the world would think and they are warning us big time!
If we re-(s)elect Bush the whole WORLD will hate us.
I thought that's what he was saying, too. I've always thought the world would blame us, the American people, if we re-elect B*sh -- or allow him to steal the election, again. They blame B*sh now, but they'll blame us, too, if we don't stop him. And we're the only ones who can.
If the cowboy-booted moron gets re-selected, look out! We may see the first suitcase nuke exploded in the U.S. - perhaps several simultaneously in different cities. That is a signature of al-Qaeda's.
I hope more people pick up on this subtle but powerful insinuation. Not that we should let this mass-murdering fruit loop dictate who is our president, but to me, bin Laden has opened the door to reconciliation with the Muslim world - if we throw Bush out the door.
One moral lesson I wish we would all learn from these past few years is this:
We will NEVER kill our way to peace!
We had a poster a few nights ago who
either lived abroad or was in contact with friends abroad. He said that people even in Europe do not condmen the American people for the shit of Bush and his administration. They know that the courts gave us this scum. BUT he said that the sentiment is that IF we elect this bastard in November it means that we approve of what he has done and THAT means Americans will be targeted all over the world. If we elect him, they will no longer give us the benefit of the doubt. Damn this fuckng peice of shit. There are so many places to visit in this world and so many people to get to know and this dimwit who was so incurious that he never traveled anywhere in this world with all his family money, has just closed it all down to all of us and to our children. I was looking forward to it in retirement------now I can go travel America and gaze upon the same shittin' strip malls and corporate ad tripe from sea to shining sea.
What a bunch of sissies. These "insights" would be amusing, if we weren't in a war for our survival. Dammit, grow some cojones! We're Americans and we don't give a good goddamm what the rest of the world thinks. We've faced tougher struggles and came out OK; this one will turn out the same. Of course, it would be a lot easier to prosecute this war with a masculine patriotic left that understands we ARE at war.

The Washington Times reports that Russia may have been involved in the removal of the 377 tons of explosives from the al Qa-Qaa depot in Iraq. -
"John A. Shaw, the deputy undersecretary of defense for international technology security, said in an interview that he believes the Russian troops, working with Iraqi intelligence, "almost certainly" removed the high-explosive material that went missing from the Al-Qaqaa facility, south of Baghdad.
"The Russians brought in, just before the war got started, a whole series of military units," Mr. Shaw said. "Their main job was to shred all evidence of any of the contractual arrangements they had with the Iraqis. The others were transportation units."
Mr. Shaw, who was in charge of cataloguing the tons of conventional arms provided to Iraq by foreign suppliers, said he recently obtained reliable information on the arms-dispersal program from two European intelligence services that have detailed knowledge of the Russian-Iraqi weapons collaboration.
Most of Saddam's most powerful arms were systematically separated from other arms like mortars, bombs and rockets, and sent to Syria and Lebanon, and possibly to Iran, he said."
I mean what the !@#$? We knew the Russians were in bed with Saddam, but if this pans out, then the Russkie government has the blood of US soldiers on its hands. After the Beslan massacre, President Bush pledged to help Putin with his Islamo-fascist problem. No co-operation should be given to Russia until they come clean with what they did in Iraq. They should also contribute a few brigades to go into Syria and clean out the crap they put there.

Orson Scott Card, one of my favorite authors, has written a great article -
"Kerry claims to believe in God, and maybe he does -- but the God he believes in is one without any requirements. As a result, whatever Kerry's faith, he can do anything without feeling any shame at all.
Bush believes in a God who has strict rules that he expects his children to follow -- even presidents who are running for office, and even if following those rules might make you lose.
If you don't believe that you are ever going to have to account for your actions except in the highly manipulable court of public opinion, then what is there to constrain you from abusing power to your own benefit -- which is, by the way, a good working definition of "evil."
The Left is firmly convinced that good is only possible in the world when they are in power; therefore they can do any number of unfair, indecent, or dishonest things in pursuit of that goal.
Without shame. Without guilt.
Because they don't believe there is such a thing as "sin." Only power. And whoever gets the power, makes the rules. To the Left, the only shameful act in 2004 is voting Republican."
Read it all. And buy his books.

Does ABC news want you to see this? From Drudge -
ABCNEWS HOLDS TERROR WARNING TAPE
**Exclusive**
In the last week before the election, ABCNEWS is holding a videotaped message from a purported al Qaeda terrorist warning of a new attack on America, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
The terrorist claims on tape the next attack will dwarf 9/11. "The streets will run with blood," and "America will mourn in silence" because they will be unable to count the number of the dead. Further claims: America has brought this on itself for electing George Bush who has made war on Islam by destroying the Taliban and making war on Al Qaeda.
ABCNEWS strongly denies holding the tape back from broadcast over political concerns during the last days of the election.
The CIA is analyzing the tape, a top federal source tells the DRUDGE REPORT.
ABCNEWS obtained the tape from a source in Waziristan, Pakistan over the weekend, sources tells DRUDGE.
"We have been working 24 hours a day trying to authenticate [the tape]," a senior ABCNEWS source said Wednesday morning.
The terrorist's face is concealed by a head dress, and he speaks in an American accent, making it difficult to identify the individual.
US intelligence officials believe the man on tape may be Adam Gadhan - aka Adam Pearlman, a California native who was highlighted by the FBI in May as an individual most likely to be involved in or have knowledge of the next al Qaeda attacks.
According to the FBI, Gadahn, 25, attended al-Qaida training camps and served as an al-Qaida translator.
The disturbing tape runs an hour -- the man simply identifies himself as 'Assam the American.'
This is chilling. And I suspect if the electorate were to see this, the polls would swing hard-and-fast for the president. Hey, Adam, start packing your bags, because were coming for you; you little bastard.

John Hospers, Libertarian Party founder, realizes the true stakes in the election. -
"The Democratic Party today is a haven for anti-Semites, racists, radical environmentalists, plundering trial lawyers, government employee unions, and numerous other self-serving elites who despise the Constitution and loath private property. It is opposed to free speech – witness the mania for political correctness and intimidation on college campuses, and Kerry’s threat to sue television stations that carry the Swift Boat ads. If given the power to do so, Democrats will use any possible means to suppress opposing viewpoints, particularly on talk radio and in the university system. They will attempt to enact “hate speech” and “hate crime” laws and re-institute the Fairness Doctrine, initiate lawsuits, and create new regulations designed to suppress freedom of speech and intimidate their political adversaries. They will call it “defending human rights.” This sort of activity may well make up the core of a Kerry administration Justice Department that will have no truck with the rule of law except as a weapon to use against opponents."
Read the whole thing. As an economic libertarian with a mean streak of moral conservatism, it behooves the radical libertarians to work within the Republican Party to enact change. And a Kerry presidency will give us change that no rational person would find acceptable.
Oh, yeah. The increasingly marginal Pat Buchanan endorses the president, too.

The most important aspect of the al Qaa-Qa weapons brouhaha is the fact that Mahammed al Baradei of the UN's IAEA is angling for a third term as chief inspector over US objections. Remember this is the guy who stood by while Pakistan went nuclear, North Korea thumbed its nose at international concessions, allowed the AQ Khan network to work for the highest bidder (see Libya and Iran). He now tries to, unsuccessfully, influence our election by peddling a now discredited story about missing explosives to CBS and the NY Times.
As an American, I've become increasingly pissed-off from foreigners trying to swing this election to the senator from Paris. No one, and I mean NO ONE, especially foreigners, will not tell me what to do or how to think. These tactics must not be allowed to sway the electorate; and I have a hunch that on November 2nd, many voters will feel the same way.

for my hometown paper. In very pro-Kerry Pasadena, the Star-News endorses President Bush.
"America must stand its ground at home and abroad. We believe the best predictor of future action is past behavior. Based on that truism, George W. Bush is the leader most able to move this country forward. The record of his challenger on the other hand, belies the rhetoric of his campaign. Repeated votes against defense spending, the denial of increased funding for U.S. intelligence following the first bombing of the World Trade Center, government apron strings to tie the hands of entrepreneurial Americans and businesses that provide jobs and above all, the intent to negotiate rather than deal with those who would destroy us. Appeasement signals weakness."
If this is from a paper in a lefty suburb of LA, then this does not bode well for Kerry across the nation. This election won't be close and I'll post my predictions this week.

Cher exhorts people to vote.
"I think that as Bush will, if Bush gets elected, he will put in new Superior Court judges, and these guys are not going to want to see gay pride week."
Hey, Cher, if you're gonna be an expert try to get your civics right. It's Supreme, not Superior Court. I got you, babe.
